104.7 FREE FM - "THE FREE SPIRIT OF GRANDE PRAIRIE"

Jeff Henson - News Director
Jeff originally hails from the tiny farming community of Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba (about the same size as Clairmont). He joined FREE-FM in July of 2007 as our first ever news director. Prior to joining our team, Jeff worked in the news department at 630 CHED in Edmonton, where he was able to learn from legendary newscasters Bob Layton, Ed Mason and C.R. Nichols. Prior to that, Jeff spent 3 1/2 years as sports director of CJOK and CKYX in Fort McMurray. It was during that time that he became accustomed to the Alberta Junior Hockey League, as the voice of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. Jeff will now put that knowledge to use as the new voice of the Grande Prairie Storm. Jeff got his start in radio back in 1993 with 730 CKDM in Dauphin, Manitoba. During his time there, he did everything but clean the floors at night. Okay, so maybe we are exaggerating just a wee bit.... but while in Dauphin he was an announcer, Agriculture News Director and Sports Director (just not all at the same time). In his spare
time, Jeff runs his own Fantasy Hockey League on the internet (much to the dismay of his wife Jennifer and daughter Brittany). Also, if you are in need of a ringette coach, give Jeff a call as he is a fully certified level one ringette coach.
Grande Prairie Storm - tough enough to wear pink!!
That Randy Pike Guy!
The newest member of the FREE-FM News Team came to us from Fort McMurray, home of the highest rents he had ever seen since moving to Alberta 19 months ago.
Randy brings over 30 years experience in the News business with him having begun his career behind the mic in Kingston Ontario before briefly venturing into TV in Thunder Bay before deciding that he really DOES have a "face for radio"
Other stops along the way included North Bay, & Tillsonburgh along with a total of 5 trips back for jobs in Thunder Bay before he & wife Linda headed west to Dauphin Manitoba where he met up with a fellow by the name of Jeff Henson!
"Piker" briefly returned to Thunder Bay (again!) before moving to Dryden Ontario for 4 years until the lure of the West proved just too much to ignore & Fort Mac beckoned.
When the very same J Henson from Dauphin offered an opportunity do head to GP, it was quickly accepted & Randy is happy to be here & looking forward to getting out in the Swann City & meeting as many people as he can.
A lifelong HABS fan, he will also admit to bleeding "Dodger Blue" & 1 of his proudest posessions is his personally autographed picture of former Manager Tommy Lasorda.
Jessica Gray
Free Fm's resident red-head comes to us from London, Ontario where she left mom and dad behind to start a new adventure out west.
